Meet Sam!
Born and raised smack in between Austin and San Antonio, Sam (she/they) is a New-York based performer who was shaped just as much by her big-little Texas hometown as she was by her loud Vietnamese family.
After graduating from the musical theatre program at the North East School of the Arts in San Antonio, they made the brief journey up to Texas State University in San Marcos, where they got their BFA in Musical Theatre under the direction of Kaitlin Hopkins.
There are few things in this world that Sam loves more than popcorn, The Beatles, and a fashionable hat. In her free time, Sam can be found relating to HBO’s Girls, expanding their karaoke repertoire, or trying to increase her tolerance for horror movies. Her current obsessions include amaretto sours and Chappell Roan.
Over the past few years, Sam has come into their own power as a mid-size queer woman of color, and she hopes that her perspective and presence in creative spaces will inspire others to embrace new interpretations and perspectives on familiar stories to show that we are much less different than we appear, regardless of skin color, gender, sexual orientation, or body type.
